You have seen the mobs of people surrounding the casino tables, cheering and screaming. This is a typical sight viewed at the craps table. This game is hot when it’s hot and can draw the crowds like no other real money casino game. Unlike the Black Jack table with the player’s intent on the dealer, the craps table is alive with bolsters and cheers as the players hit the lucky streak known all too well.
Starting to play slots is usually quite easy. A brief look at the pay off chart will do and you’re all set. Like most fast paced online casino games, with craps many players are intimidated at first glance. All it takes is for the player to learn the basics of craps to get them hooked. In this article we discuss the basic plays in craps which will get you started. There is no need to learn everything at once. This is a fun game with many betting options. Let’s start at the beginning.
Passline Bet
This bet is all you need to learn to begin playing craps. It is a simple bet placed before a shooter makes his/her roll. When looking at the craps table, the player will notice an area that encircles the majority of the table. The area is clearly marked pass line. Just inside of the table from the pass line is areas clearly labelled don’t pass. This area is designated for those players who are betting against the roller or shooter. In the middle of the table are two areas labelled COME and towards the ends of the table two areas labelled don’t come. These areas are similar to the PASS and DON’T PASS bets although these two bets are made at different intervals of the craps game. Looking at the table, the player will see two areas just past don’t pass line which are labelled FIELD. In these areas are numbers 2-3-4-9-10-11-12. This area is for bets placed that one of the seven numbers will be rolled.
Across the table are boxes that are labelled 4-5-six-8-nine and 10. These boxes are for bets being placed that one of those numbers will be rolled before a seven will be rolled again. Because there are players standing at both sides of the table, the number 6 and 9 are spelled out so players opposite the table can clearly discern which number they are betting on. On either end of the table, the player will see a box with a 6 and a box with an 8. These boxes are for placing bets that the six or eight number will be rolled before the seven is rolled. I know this may be confusing to you but when you look at the table, it will all make complete sense.
The majority of today’s crap tables are called double layouts. What this means is two casino employees are manning the table, the box man and the stick man. The box man is here to observe and supervise the game table and also to take money from the dealer and deposit it into a drop box. The stick man is the adrenalin pusher of the game. The stick man uses a rod to push dice to the players, calls the shots being played and encourages the players to place bets. I enjoy standing back and watching how the stickman keeps the players wound up throughout the game.
